This highly acclaimed film on the iconoclastic Beat writer Jack Kerouac, author of "On the Road," combines rare documentary footage and interviews with dramatizations of episodes from Kerouac's legendary and brief life. It explores Kerouac's poor French-Canadian Catholic childhood in New England, his infamous, drug-fueled cross-country trips (with extended stays in Mexico and San Francisco), and finally, his increasingly self-destructive behavior, which led to an untimely death.
