Ron Howard began his career at the tender age of 3, appearing
in films (The Courtship of Eddie's Father) and becoming a child
star on The Andy Griffith Show. He made a fine impression in American
Graffiti (1973) and stayed in the public eye on Happy Days (1974-80).
Meanwhile, Howard made a deal with legendary producer Roger Corman
to direct his first feature (1977's Grand Theft Auto), then went
on to make a string of popular comedies with a fresh mix of innocence
and comic bite (Night Shift, Splash). Since the late '80s, Howard
has ventured into different genres with mixed success, including
action-adventure (Backdraft, Parenthood), drama (The Paper), and
satire (EDtv).
